Lower prices for all LME base metals bar tin following Wednesday rally

Most base metals futures prices on the London Metal Exchange weakened on the morning of Thursday January 13, with consolidation setting in following a bullish day on Wednesday. Tin was an exception, however, and was trading around its latest all-time peak. Copper's three-month price fell by 1% to $9,958.50 per tonne at 9am, down from $10,064 per tonne at the previous day’s close. The red metal traded as high as $10,072 per tonne on Wednesday, its highest level since late October. Similarly, nickel's price dipped to $21,940 per tonne on Thursday at 9am, from its closing price on Wednesday at $22,064 per tonne, trading at the most since 2011. It reached as high as $22,745 per tonne on Wednesday, rising by $2,000 per tonne since the start.
