According to statistics, India's finished stainless steel production amounted to 3.5 million tons in the fiscal year 2022, rising by 29% compared to the previous year. Among them, the output of finished flat-rolled products was around 2.8 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 24%; that of finished long products was 732,000 tons, a year-on-year hike of 30%. India’s stainless steel production in the fiscal years 2022 and 2021 slid to 3 million tons and 2.7 million tons, respectively. The decrease was mainly due to the COVID-19 epidemic. However, the production in the fiscal year 2020 rebounded, driven by demand recovery and steel mills’ gradual increase in their output. *** LME zinc price up 2.3%; 30kt of aluminium canceled Base metals prices on the London Metal Exchange were mixed during morning trading on Tuesday May 17, with copper and zinc the strongest performers.
