India's severe inflation makes government decide toward self-reliance in coal sector 15 Jul 2022 18:12 reported by Stanley Wang
Date: 18/07/2022

India recently declared that it planned to increase domestic coal production and reduce import volume to reach the goal of India's self-reliance in the coal sector. In 2021, India imported coal with 220 million tons, becoming the world's main coal import country. However, with international energy prices hiking, India's related energy product import value increased as well. The trade deficit expanded and it further made the price of domestic commodities high. The inflation has become severe. Currently, India plans to build nine coal washeries, and its total production capacity will be 30 million tons every year.
