According to statistics released by the World Steel Association (Worldsteel), in June, the global pig iron output amounted to around 110 million tons, decreasing by 3.8% compared to the same month a year ago and dropping by 5.2% month on month. In the first six months of this year, the production was around 651 million tons, down by 5.5% year on year. In June alone, the production in North America was approximately 2.6 million tons, equal to the same month of last year. Besides that, the output from the EU was 6 million tons, a month-on-month decrease of 5.9% and dropping by 9.2% year on year.
