Tata Steel sings agreement with Rio Tinto for improvement of environmental concerns on iron smelting process


Tata Steel, the world's seventh largest steel company with an annual crude steel capacity of 31 million tons singed the licensing agreement with Rio Tinto to cooperate in controlling of environmental management for iron smelting process in order to replace conventional blast furnaces and coke ovens.

This project named as HIsarna and was initiated at Tata Steel's steelwork site with annual production of 60 thousand tons in Netherlands.

HIsarna projects mainly focused on reducing raw material feeding feeds and CO2 emission control over 50%. It’s expected that the share of technical solutions would be the key step for the long term cooperation between both companies.
