Indian domestic car sales in October jump by 38pct

Indian domestic passenger car sales jumped by 37.99% to 182,992 units in October compared with 132,615 units in the same month last year.

According to the figures released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, motorcycle sales grew by 43.31% to 876,810 units from 611,828.

SIAM said that total two wheeler sales in October 2010 increased by 50.38% to 1,127,827 units (749,965 units). Sales of commercial vehicles jumped by 18.17% to 50,835 units against 43,018 units.

It added that total sales of vehicles across categories registered a growth of 45.93 per cent to 1,460,655 units in October this year against 1,000,953 units in the same month last year.
