Greaves Cotton inaugurates light engine manufacturing plant

ET reported that engineering major Greaves Cotton has inaugurated its fifth light engine manufacturing plant at a Greenfield site at Shendra near Aurangabad. The plant has been set up with an initial investment of INR 50 crore to make 87,000 engines annually.

With this plant, the company's total production capacity of light engines will go up to more than 375,000 per annum, making it among the world's largest manufacturers of single cylinder diesel engines.

This plant will manufacture both single and twin cylinder engines, supplying primarily to existing as well as new three and four wheeled small commercial vehicle manufacturers. These engines can also be used in power gen sets, pump sets, marine and host of other industrial and agricultural applications.

Speaking at the inauguration, Mr Gautam Thapar chairman of Greaves Cotton said that "Greaves Cotton set up its first plant for manufacturing light weight internal combustion engines in Chikalthana 1975."
