Rising demand provides slight boost to rebar import prices in Singapore
Date: 10/12/2019

Import prices for rebar in Singapore climbed over the past week because of slight pickup in buying interest, reflecting continued increases in the costs of steelmaking raw materials. Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for steel reinforcing bar (rebar) import, cfr Singapore, which mainly looks at cargoes sold into Singapore on a theoretical-weight basis, was at $435- 440 per tonne in the week to Monday December 9, narrowing upward by $5 per tonne from a week earlier. Offers for Qatari rebar remained at $445-450 per tonne cfr Singapore but those for Turkish rebar fell $5-15 per tonne to $445-455 per tonne cfr Singapore.
