M&M September sales up 2% at 55022 units

Mahindra & Mahindra on Monday reported a 2 per percent increase in total sales at 55,022 units in September, impacted by Kerala floods , soaring fuel prices and muted consumer sentiment. The company sold 53,752 units in the same month last year, M&M said in a statement. M&M September sales up 2% at 55022 units The company's domestic sale stood at 51,268 units, up 1 per cent, as compared to 50,545 units in the same month last year. Sales of passenger vehicle dropped 16 per cent at 21,411 units last month compared to 25,414 units in September 2017. However, sales of commercial vehicle segment jumped 19 per cent at 22,917 units against 19,203 units in the same month last year. Exports also rose by 17 per cent at 3,754 units during September 2018. Commenting on the monthly performance, Rajan Wadhera, President, Automotive Sector, M&M Ltd said, "The month of September has been muted for passenger vehicles due to factors such as low consumer buying sentiment, high fuel prices and the effects of monsoon in many parts of the country. We remain hopeful that the upcoming festive season will augur well for us as well as the automotive industry”. Beyond this, the half yearly sales of M&M increased 14 per cent at 290,645 units, the company added.
