Hindalco Industries Ltd., a leading aluminum and copper company in India, planned to invest Rs 20 billion this year, most of which will be used to expand the capacity at its Utkal Alumina Refinery and the remains were for working capital and maintenance work. Hindalco aimed to invest around US$1-1.2 billion in India in the coming 5 to 6 years in order to double the share of value-added products from downstream mills. Besides, the firm also planned to raise the capacity of Utkal Alumina Refinery by 500 tons, which was expected to put into production in the fiscal year 2021.
