According to the report, the current mines in Odisha will expire on their leases by end of the current fiscal year. In this situation, recently a new notice for auction of 20 iron ore and manganese mines had been issued by the Odisha government. Among them, 12 mineral blocks of iron ore, 2 of manganese and 6 with reserves of both minerals were auctioned in this notification. Besides, the notification announced that financial bids could only be accepted in digital format and technical bids were requested to apply both in digital and physical formats. The government also declared that the mineral blocks could only be used for the production of sponge and pig iron and steel.
