Copper hits record high on supply side and Chinese data

Copper rose to a record high at USD 9,327 a tonne on Tuesday as supply concerns hit the market after Chile's Collahuasi mine halted shipments, with a falling dollar also supporting prices.

By 1117 GMT, copper for three month delivery on the London Metal Exchange traded at USD 9,295 a tonne from USD 9,201 at the close on Monday.

Copper has gained around 26% in 2010 in addition to 140% rise in 2009.
